Moonlight Beach Encinitas

The City of Encinitas was founded over 100 years ago, but the modern city of Encinitas really came into being when five distinct communities decided to merge in 1986. These communities, Historic Encinitas, New Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia, and Olivenhain, have all maintained their own distinct personalities and charm.

The Encinitas Communities

“Historic Encinitas” runs along the historic Highway 101 Corridor, “New Encinitas” centers on El Camino Real. To the south is “Cardiff-by-the-Sea” which sits on the hillsides overlooking the sea. To the north of historic Encinitas is “Leucadia”. You will know you have entered Luecadia by the giant eucalyptus trees that line 101. Then there is “Olivenhain”. Olivenhain, which means “olive grove” in German, is the eastern portion of Encinitas and it boasts plenty of open horse country, pastures, and the residents enjoy a rural way of life. Each community has a very distinct flavor if you would like to discuss which one best suits you then please feel free to give us a call at 760-703-5090
